I believe that art should be something that is pleasing to see for whoever might look upon it, not just the avid art collector. “Whether it’s someone’s child I’m painting to pass on for generations to enjoy or a seascape to brighten someone’s home, it’s meant to bring joy to them.”
Painting Process
I paint subject matter that excites me. If my subject does not move me, my viewers will not be either. I begin the process by taking many photographs. In the studio I work on design by doing many small “thumbnail” sketches in pencil. Before I begin the painting, I paint a small color sketch which serves as a guide to my final painting. In watercolor, many times you only get one try to get it right. The color sketch also serves as a warm up for me before plunging into that beautiful large sheet of watercolor paper.
